Fixations is a tactile exploration of anatomy and peculiar beauty; an experimental mixed-media project pushing the boundaries of lens-based art. The project consists of interactive photographic puzzles crafted from acrylic plexiglass, inviting viewers to participate in the ongoing construction of a “pleasure creature.”

Inspired by the tangram—a historical dissection puzzle from the Chinese Song Dynasty, once described as the “earliest psychological test in the world”—the project juxtaposes the fluid organicity of anatomy with the precise geometric language of the tangram puzzle. This dualism creates a deliberate tension, offering a methodical yet playful framework for navigating ambiguity. There is no correct arrangement or completion to the puzzle; solving becomes imagining.

At the heart of Fixations are the themes of impulse and play; blurring the line between observer and creator and transforming the act of viewing into a process of reconstructing. Drawing on the Cubist ethos of fragmentation, particularly Picasso's notion of creating "forms that live their own life,” the work explores anatomical forms and their power to evoke instinctual attraction.
